State of Indiana ex rel. Rokita v. Marté, Sheriff of Monroe County

Litigation Content

ICAP is defending Monroe County Sheriff Ruben Marté and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office against a lawsuit brought by the Indiana Attorney General alleging that the Sheriff must amend his immigration policy to allow for greater involvement of officers in immigration enforcement. The Attorney General claims that the Sheriff’s immigration policy, which limits local involvement in federal immigration enforcement, violates provisions of state law that require state and local law enforcement to allow their officers to participate in immigration enforcement in various ways.
