We challenge unlawful paramilitary activity, support state and federal legislation to combat private armed groups, advise elected officials and law enforcement on the legal tools available to them, and prepare legal responses to political violence before it escalates.

We defend gun safety legislation in court, support bans on assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines, challenge the presence of firearms in sensitive places, and counter the legal arguments that would strike down common-sense protections that are consistent with the Second Amendment.

ICAP has specialized expertise in defending civil rights victories before the Supreme Court. We have successfully defeated over 15 cert petitions and stay applications seeking reversal of important public interest wins in the courts of appeals, and we have served as lead counsel in some of the most significant civil rights cases before the Court in recent terms.
