First Amendment protection for begging

Filed an amicus brief in Singleton v. Taylor, No. 23-11163 (U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit) supporting homeless residents of Montgomery County, AL, challenging anti-begging statutes by explaining that neither Founding-era poor laws nor Reconstruction-era vagrancy laws support the state’s claim that begging is unprotected by the First Amendment.
