ICAP, in partnership with the Georgetown University Law Center Civil Rights Clinic, represented protesters who occupied an encampment during the summer of 2020 to advocate for police reform following the murder of George Floyd. The lawsuit alleged that New York City officials violated the plaintiffs’ First, Fourth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights when the NYPD and Department of Sanitation conducted an overnight raid of the protest site, removing and destroying the protesters’ personal property. The case was resolved by a settlement agreement, with the City of New York agreeing to compensate Plaintiffs for some of their loses.
